Marvin "Roy" Parris, 91, died on November 29, 2016. He was born February 5, 1925 in Gaffney, SC where he was raised. He served during WWII in the Army Airforce as a flight officer on the B-29 bomber. After retirement, he and his wife Miriam did extensive travel in the USA and worldwide. He loved singing bass in various church quartets, baseball, college football, and eventually college basketball. A catcher in the textile industrial leagues in South Carolina, he had the opportunity to play for a farm club of the St. Louis Browns (now the Baltimore Orioles) but chose to be a family man instead. He was preceded in death by his parents William D. and Annie Mae (Stroup) Parris, brothers, Billy S. Parris (KIA in WWII) and David S. Parris, and a sister Shirley Spangler.
