FRANK BRADLEY HURRLE, JR., 93, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born October 2, 1923 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Katherine Weberpals and Frank B. Hurrle, Sr. Frank graduated from high school in 1941 and the same year began attending the University of Louisville but gave up his deferment in 1944 during World War II to join the U.S. Army. FRANK BRADLEY HURRLE, JR., 93, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born October 2, 1923 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Katherine Weberpals and Frank B. Hurrle, Sr. Frank graduated from high school in 1941 and the same year began attending the University of Louisville but gave up his deferment in 1944 during World War II to join the U.S. Army. Frank became a rifleman with the 100th Infantry Division and was deployed to Marseille, France. After acquiring combat experience, Frank was awarded the Bronze Star for his courage and patriotism in the service of his country. Once home, Frank completed his degree at U of L and married his sweetheart, Freda Grose, of New Albany. Frank then received his masters degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, and began his teaching career in 1947 in Henryville where he was the basketball and track coach and taught in the elementary school. He later became teacher and principal at the Wall Street School (formerly the Taylor School) in Jeffersonville, and in 1952 he was named principal of Spring Hill Elementary School in Jeffersonville where he remained until his retirement in 1986. Serving as principal for 34 years in the Spring Hill community, Frank touched thousands of lives. He was devoted to the children and families of the school.

Frank is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Joe Dubberly, Sr.; grandchildren, Joe Dubberly, Jr. (Hannah), Laura Dubberly, and Michael Dubberly; and great grandchildren, Alex and Liam Dubberly, Bradley Dubberly, and Evalyn Dubberly. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Freda, in 2006.

Visitation will be 2:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Monday and after 12:00 noon Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service and Military Honors will be 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with private burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
